About Us

Our Story

We never could have imagined a twenty-year friendship would eventually lead to launching a business together… our story began in a Kindermusik class with our daughters in 1998 and we’ve raised our families together ever since, sharing in life’s greatest joys and deepest heartaches.

In 2017 Marta invited Beth to join her at High Point Market. It was there, in the midst of laugher and fun that the idea of a business together started to take shape, though it took a few years to evolve into what is now — The Creamery. We started small, hosting our first pop-up at Beth’s home while also managing our own design clients. It grew from there into renting a storage space to hold our inventory. Eventually, we decided to combine everything under one roof. It took almost a year to find the right space and then another six months to renovate before our dream became reality.

We hope that everyone who walks through our doors feels welcomed, inspired, and at home.

Welcome to The Creamery!

xo,

Beth & Marta

Interior design has always been my passion. Ever since I can remember it’s what I knew I wanted to do when I “grew up”. In high school deciding to pursue it as a career was the only thought I ever had so I went to Purdue University, got my bachelor degree in design and started my journey. Over the years I’ve been able to incorporate so many experiences into my work. From commercial to residential projects, space planning to styling it really is the whole process that I love. But, it’s the relationships and the unique privilege to get know someone on a personal level that makes doing design so special to me. When I start a new project I’m meeting with a client. By the time it’s over I have found a new friend.

Opening The Creamery with Beth is a dream come true. It’s a place that reflects our personalities, our friendship and our creativity. It’s where vision meets real life and we love being able to share it with the world.

My interest in home interiors has developed throughout my life. Growing up, my family owned a furniture store and my mother was an interior designer, so I have always had an eye for design. We built a home in 2011 and in 2018, we downsized and extensively renovated a 50+ year ranch-style home. With both of these projects, I was involved in choosing design elements with our builder.

I launched a design career after Marta and I hosted our first pop-up shop in November of 2018 at our home. Since then, I have worked with design customers to include flooring and paint, fabric selection, custom furniture, rug and lighting selections, light construction, and accessorizing or styling. In addition, Marta and I have designed and transformed our 100+ year old building in Roanoke which will house our interior design and retail shopping businesses going forward.

The things I enjoy most about doing interior design work include the relational aspect of working with clients as I help to create updated and cozy spaces. I enjoy sourcing pieces at all price ranges and pulling them all together with styling or accessorizing.

A Unique Beginning

Many of you have asked where The Creamery’s name came from and the answer is in the history of the building. Built in 1900, it l was originally Roanoke’s creamery long before it became residential housing. Since the first time we walked through the doors it’s been “The Creamery” to us. As we started developing our branding we considered changing the name but it didn’t feel right and we just couldn’t do it. We’d been calling it The Creamery for too long and so it stuck.

We like that the name incorporates history and even though The Creamery is now home to our interior design studio and retail space we promise to keep ice cream in the freezer for old times sake.

Our Manifesto

We believe a life well-lived is a life lived together.

We believe our surroundings, the places we call home and work, should inspire us. Ground us. Welcome us to work, rest or play.

These sanctuaries should reflect our personalities. They tell our stories and create new ones.

We believe we are each uniquely individual and as such our homes should reflect that.

We believe it is a gift to guide and help create your space.

We believe we all have stories to tell and home is where it begins.
